Tower Bridge Rises Again
With the completion of the restoration works and the onset of
Spring this is a great time to come and see Tower Bridge and
explore the exhibitions inside. The first Bridge lift in 5
months happened on Saturday (02/04/2011) with the newly painted
bascules rising to allow the MV Dixie Queen to pass under providing
a site seeing opportunity that had been hugely missed.
A full list of upcoming Bridge
lifts can be seen by visiting the Bridge lift webpage.
Tower Bridge Exhibition: Local Art at the Bridge
Inside the Bridge things are changing as well with a new
temporary
local art
exhibition highlighting some of the best artists from
Southwark. The bridge currently houses a range of modern art
including paintings, films and sculptures. This is an
on-going project with different artists to be appointed throughout
the year.
Tower Bridge Exhibition: Victorian Games
Starting Saturday 9th April and continuing through to the 25th
Tower Bridge Exhibition will once again be running its ever popular
Victorian Games event, where children of all ages can play classic
games such as Deck Quoits, Roller Ball and Giant
Dominoes.
London Marathon 2011
Later in the month (Sunday 17th April) the London Marathon will
once again wind its way through the Capital, with Tower Bridge as
always providing a key milestone and viewing platform. A
giant Lucozade blimp will be situated in Potters Field just next
door as part of the day’s celebrations.
Watch the marathon, take a tour around the Bridge, grab some
dinner in one of the many restaurants down on Shad Thames, situated
to the South East of the Bridge, before finishing your day with a
viewing of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Shakespeare Happens: The Tragedy of Macbeth: The Scoop at More
London
Between the 13th -18th April River Productions a London-based
historical fringe theatre company will be using the Scoop, directly
outside the GLA building, to bring William Shakespeare to people
via the immediate, accessible form of outdoor street
