Walkways Scoops Top Industry Award

Published: 2 December 2010

THE FABULOUS Tower Bridge Walkways has been awarded gold for being one of the UK’s best events venues at the 2010 Eventia Awards, the events industry’s premier annual awards.

Winning the top gong in the category Event Hotel or Venue of the Year (<250 capacity), this honour is recognition of the first class location, catering and facilities provided by Tower Bridge and Walkways event management partner Seasoned Events.

Over 800 leading events industry professionals celebrated a spectacular night of awards at the Hilton Park Lane on Friday 26th November with BBC Breakfast stars Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams hosting the evening and X Factor finalist Paije Richardson opening the show.

The Tower Bridge Walkways make a spectacular and unique location for both corporate events and wedding receptions. Suspended 42 metres above the Thames, the panoramic views from the East and West Walkways add the “wow” factor to any event and the history of the Bridge adds an extra dimension to get guests talking. The Walkways can accommodate 120 guests for dinner and 250 for a reception.

David Wight, director of Tower Bridge, said: “Awareness of Tower Bridge as a venue has increased substantially over the last few years, as has the attention to detail provided by our event management experts, Seasoned Events. We look forward to further success in partnership with them.”

Seasoned Events, which is the sole caterers for the Tower Bridge Walkways, has managed the venue management contract since April 2009 and enjoyed a successful first year and a half at the Most Famous Bridge in the World.

The Eventia Awards is the premier awards and networking occasion for the events industry. It honours outstanding business-to-business and business-to-consumer events including corporate events, product launches, company exhibitions, presentations, hospitality, celebratory events, meetings and conferences of all sizes and formats both overseas and in the UK.

Eventia Chairman, Mark Saxby, said: “These awards recognise the best and most innovative International and UK-based events in our industry. It was refreshing to see such an impressive volume of high quality entries submitted to this year’s Awards. The fact that the occasion was attended by an impressive 800+ guests is extremely pleasing and quite a feat in the current economic climate.”

Colin Sayers, managing director for Seasoned Events, said: "We are delighted that our strong partnership with Tower Bridge has been recognised with this award. At Seasoned, our ethos is firmly built around our relationships. We work in a people-based business and do everything we can to ensure that people are always at the heart of what we do - whether it’s our staff, our clients, or our customers."
